Marcel Schiborr
Music was, is and will always be an essential part of my life. It all started when I as a young boy listened to my father playing and singing folklore, classical pieces and Beatles songs. Years later I discovered Depeche Mode and a-ha - two bands that opened a new world of composition and sound to me. It was then when I started to write songs and play several instruments. The musical expedition went on and so I reached the lands of Metal and Progressive (Morbid Angel, Katatonia, Opeth) and discovered Dead Can Dance. And the musical journey is not over – and will probably never be (currently I am intensively listening to Klone from France). All these bands immensely influence my own musical work, where authenticity is the most important point to me. This is what probably makes it hard on the market, but as a musician it is the only conceivable way – staying true to myself. And this is why MAYZE is now my musical homeland and family. It is a new productive land, which makes it possible to be the authentic musician I want to be.
Up to now I have published several long players and demos with several bands and as solo artist (Green Grass On The High Tide / Twelve / Symbiontic / Poets To Their Beloved / Revel In Void / Manifold Conceptions / The Witches´ Dream), some of which having aroused serious attention in the underground scene and also covering a huge musical spectrum: Grunge, Synth-Pop, Death-Metal, Alternative, Neo-Folk, Occult Rock, Progressive and Electronic. Besides, I have composed jingles for companies.
